Latest ‘Breaking Bad’ Disc to Offer Exclusive Scene

3 Apr, 2013 By: John Latchem

Fans of the acclaimed AMC series “Breaking Bad” will have an extra incentive to pick up the fifth season on disc when it is released June 4. Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will include an exclusive new scene created specifically for the two-disc Blu-ray ($65.99) and three-disc DVD ($55.99) editions.

The series stars three-time Emmy winner Bryan Cranston as Walter White, a high school chemistry teacher who resorts to selling crystal meth to support his family after he is diagnosed with cancer. The fifth season continues his struggle, following the remission of his cancer, to balance his family life with control over his expanding criminal empire.

The additional eight-minute scene, “Chicks ‘n’ Guns,” stars series regulars Aaron Paul (as Jesse), Bob Odenkirk (as Saul) and Charles Baker (as Skinny Pete) and tells the pivotal backstory to the eighth episode of the season.

“The extra scene we created exclusively for the Blu-ray and DVD proves just how much the relationship between Jesse and Walt has drastically changed over the past five seasons,” said show creator Vince Gilligan.

The fifth season DVD and Blu-ray includes all eight episodes, plus commentaries, deleted scenes, outtakes and several featurettes. The Blu-ray includes two additional featurettes.

The season is available now for digital download, and deluxe editions of the first three seasons are available now on iTunes, with a deluxe edition of the fourth season arriving on iTunes in May.
