Fox Ready for ‘The Final Break’28 May, 2009 By: John Latchem
The final episode may have aired May 15, and the season four DVD hits shelves June 2, but the “Prison Break” storyline is far from over.
July 21 sees the release of the direct-to-video movie Prison Break: The Final Break on DVD ($26.98) and Blu-ray Disc ($29.99) from 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment.
“Many of our TV properties like ‘Prison Break’ have a very keen fan base, and we realized that this audience has a healthy appetite for more content over and above what they may have seen on TV,” said Mary Daily, EVP of North America Marketing at Fox.
The movie, set some time after the events of the series finale, stars Wentworth Miller as Michael Scofield, who once again must deal with a loved one who is falsely imprisoned. With the authorities watching him closely, he must turn to some of his deadliest enemies for help.
The Final Break also stars Sarah Wayne Callies, Dominic Purcell, Amaury Nolasco, Robert Knepper, Jodi Lyn O’Keefe and William Fichtner.
Both the DVD and Blu-ray versions include deleted scenes. The Blu-ray version also includes the DVD.
“There is a good crossover with BD purchasers and the consumer demo for fan-based TV properties,” Daily said. “As such, [including the DVD with the Blu-ray] feels like a great fit.”
