The March 24 death of actor Robert Culp at age 79 has inspired many a fan to reflect on his venerable career.
Image Entertainment the next day put out a press release to tout the availability of “I, Spy” on DVD. Culp played secret agent Kelly Robinson on the 1965-68 series alongside Bill Cosby. The three seasons were released as five-DVD sets in 2008 and are listed at $19.98 apiece.
Also, Mill Creek Entertainment is planning to re-release Culp’s other notable series, “The Greatest American Hero,” in which he played an FBI agent assisting a would-be superhero (played by William Katt). The 1981-83 show lasted for 43 episodes.
DVDs of the series had been released years ago by Anchor Bay, but Mill Creek May 18 is re-releasing a two-DVD set of the first season at $14.98. Mill Creek also is releasing a nine-DVD set of The Greatest American Hero: The Complete Series at $29.98.
The Mill Creek “Greatest American Hero” sets will not include the “Greatest American Heroine” spinoff episode.
