DVD and Blu-ray Discs amounted to $407.8 million in fiscal 2008 (ended Jan. 31) revenue for Trans World Entertainment.

Albany, N.Y.-based Trans Word operates the f.y.e. (For Your Entertainment) packaged media retail chain, in addition to Second Spin used stores and related Web sites.

Total movie disc revenue, disclosed in an April 17 regulatory filing, was down 17% from $491 million in fiscal 2007. But DVD and Blu-ray Disc accounted for 6.4% more of Trans World sales (41.3%), compared to 38.8% in the previous-year period.

Trans World attributed video sales declines in part to operating 3% fewer stores.

Music CD sales fell more than 29% to less than $350 million, compared to $494 million in fiscal 2007. Music represented more than 39% of revenues in FY 2007, compared to 35% in 2008.
