Tickets must be purchased via Atom Tickets app
Looking to jumpstart its foray into theatrical ticketing, Lionsgate Sept. 2 announced it is bringing back teen thriller Nerve to 600 domestic screens nationwide over the Labor Day weekend. Tickets are $5 when purchased through Atom Tickets, the app-based service whose investors include The Walt Disney Co., 20th Century Fox and Lionsgate.
Founded by Ameesh Paleja, Atom Tickets seeks to mainstream mobile movie ticketing, including concessions and reviews, while targeting competitor Fandango, Lionsgate vice chairman Michael Burns recently told an investor group.
“This innovative promotion is just the tip of the iceberg in terms of the opportunities that Atom Tickets creates for our exhibition partners and our moviegoers,” Burns said.
Starring Emma Roberts and Dave Franco, Nerve centers around a high school senior who finds herself immersed in an online game of truth or dare, where her every move starts to become manipulated by an anonymous community of "watchers."
The film grossed $47.6 million at the global box office, including nearly $37 million domestically. Nerve will be available at retail beginning Oct. 11.
