Schedule of Events Loews Santa Monica 6:30-8 p.m. Day Two 8:30 p.m. Welcome remarks and morning keynote introduction State of the Home Entertainment Industry 10:00 – 11:15 a.m. Morning Keynote: Top analyst Jim Bottoms takes a big-picture look at the burgeoning 3D business and its theatrical as well as home video applications, covering displays, broadcast, disc media and online opportunities; factors driving the business in the United States; hurdles to be overcome; the implications for Hollywood; and a detailed forecast on how big and how soon the market will get. Panel Discussion: Much has been said about 3D in theaters, but the biggest promise, many experts say, lies in home applications. Most significantly, will be 3D be the “killer app” that hastens mass consumer acceptance for Blu-ray Disc? 11:15 - 11:30 a.m. 11:30 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. The turbulent economy has been a mixed bag for our business. Box office has been up, but home entertainment is challenged by both the economy and the task of managing the consumer transition from standard DVD to Blu-ray Disc. What opportunities do we see? What hurdles need to be overcome? How long will the storm last, and how best to ride it out? 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. Key retailers share their experiences with Blu-ray Disc and how they are managing the transition, while at the same time making sure DVD is still front and center. Retailers also will discuss changes in the sellthrough business, the evolving rental model, and the impact of digital delivery. 2:15 - 3 p.m. The world is going green, and home entertainment industry is certainly doing its part to preserve the environment. A look at some of the initiatives sweeping our industry, from packaging to distribution. 3 - 3:15 p.m. Key players from the new vanguard of consumer journalism share their views on the evolving home entertainment business. 4 - 5 p.m. Back by popular demand, for the eighth consecutive year, is our celebrated Presidents Panel, featuring the heads of the major-studio home entertainment divisions, all together at one time, on one stage! The captains of our industry will share their candid views, observations and opinions on the key trends, issues, opportunities and challenges facing our business, from the effect of the economy on DVD sales to the changing rental model, the rise of Blu-ray Disc, the digital copy phenomenon, and more. 5 - 6 p.m. This year’s party celebrates Blu-ray Disc’s growing interactivity through the Internet, with kiosks and stations where attendeess can sample this startling new technology first-hand. 7 p.m. Home Entertainment Critics Awards Join the home entertainment industry’s movers and shakers as we salute the best DVDs and Blu-ray Discs of 2008, as determined by a panel of high-profile DVD critics and entertainment journalists 8:30 p.m. All dates, times, locations and topics are subject to change without notice.
