Warner Selects Six Startups for Media Camp29 May, 2014 By: Chris Tribbey
Warner Bros. has picked six up-and-coming companies for its second annual Media Camp accelerator program, which pairs entrepreneurs in the media and entertainment space with studio executives for three months, with the goal of creating new products and technologies.
The people behind the six companies — Bubbl, Incoming Media, Portal Entertainment, Sidevision, Toggle and Wisemetrics — will also attend workshops facilitated by Warner Bros. executives.
The results of the mentorship program will be shared in mid-August, when the six startups pitch their companies and describe their work with Warner Bros to a group of investors and entertainment industry decision-makers.
“Media Camp is a great example of Warner Bros.’ commitment to fostering innovation that will help shape the new entertainment frontier,” said Debra Baker, SVP of global business development for Warner Bros. Home Entertainment. “Media Camp not only provides entrepreneurs with access, resources, and relationship-building opportunities otherwise unavailable to them, it allows us to work intensively with outside talent to accelerate new products and services.”
The companies’ work includes facial recognition technology for tablets, an analytic tool for brands, a video player and a mobile app to aid in video sharing.
Warner mentored five startups during its inaugural Media Camp in 2013. Sister company Turner Broadcasting began the program in 2012.
