12 Oct, 2010 By: John Latchem

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment and female lifestyles website SheKnows.com have teamed for “The Karate Kid School Challenge,” offering a $5,000 athletic scholarship to two schools in the United States.

Parents, faculty and students of any U.S. elementary, middle or high school are invited to submit an essay of 250 words or less about how their school could benefit from a $5,000 athletic scholarship program. There is no charge to enter and submissions must be received by 11:59 E.T. Oct. 14.

Judges will select the top 15 essays, with finalists announced Oct. 18 to be voted upon by the SheKnows community. The two schools receiving the most votes will be announced Nov. 3, with each winning a $5,000 scholarship.

The program is timed with the Oct. 5 release of The Karate Kid on DVD and Blu-ray.
