Music Box Films Launches New Label3 Jan, 2013 By: Chris Tribbey
This spring Chicago-based Music Box Films will launch a new label, Doppelgänger Releasing, which will focus on genre titles available across theatrical, disc and digital outlets.
The first film available from the label will be the 2012 horror-comedy 100 Bloody Acres, from Australian brothers Colin and Cameron Cairnes. The film follows an organic fertilizer business that has the ultimate secret ingredient (it involves a meat grinder).
“Music Box Films has eclectic taste and Doppelgänger Releasing gives us another avenue to express the full range of our cinematic interests,” said Ed Arentz, managing partner of Music Box Films.
The second film slated for release under the new label will be another horror-comedy, Eddie: The Sleepwalking Cannibal, starring Danish leading man Thure Lindhardt (Keep the Lights On).
