Kino Lorber Pulls ‘Dogtooth’ Oscar Nom

26 Jan, 2011 By: Erik Gruenwedel

Kino Lorber is heralding the Oscar (best foreign film) nomination of Greek psychological drama Dogtooth.

Directed by Yorgos Lanthimos, Dogtooth, which won an award (Un Certain Regard category) at Cannes in 2009, showcases a cautionary (yet entertaining) tale of home schooling gone perversely awry.

"This was very unexpected,” Lanthimos said from Greece. “It makes me and my collaborators extremely happy.”

The film will be re-released theatrically in New York for a limited run beginning Jan. 28. It was released on DVD Jan. 25.

Dogtooth will be released on Blu-ray Disc ($34.95) March 29.
