Grindstone will distribute several titles through newly-launched Lionsgate Premiere label
Grindstone Entertainment Group April 9 announced it has extended its partnership with Emmett/Furla Films for another 10 lower-budget movies, several of which will be released through the newly-launched Lionsgate Premiere label.
Recent collaborations between Lionsgate distributed Grindstone and Emmett/Furla include the Bruce Willis/Josh Duhamel/Rosario Dawson action adventure Fire With Fire; crime thriller Empire State, starring Dwayne Johnson and Liam Hemsworth; and serial killer thriller Frozen Ground, featuring Nicolas Cage and John Cusack.
Upcoming titles include heist film Bus 657, starring Robert De Niro and Kate Bosworth; CIA actioner The Extraction, teaming Bruce Willis, Kellan Lutz and Gina Carano; and Daughter of God, featuring Keanu Reeves and Mira Sorvino.
Emmett/Furla has also partnered with Lionsgate on theatrical releases Rambo, Wonderland, Narc and last year’s Escape Plan, starring Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger, which grossed nearly $140 million globally.
The title sold more than $14.5 million worth of DVD and Blu-ray Disc units in 2014, according to The-Numbers.com.
"Grindstone is an important contributor to the Lionsgate motion picture group, and they have established one of the industry’s most enviable track records of consistency and profitability,” Steve Beeks, co-COO and motion picture group president at Lionsgate, said in a statement.
