Starz Streaming Service Bows on Xbox One

28 Sep, 2016 By: Erik Gruenwedel

Starz Sept. 28 announced its $8.99 monthly streaming service is now available on Xbox One.

Launched in April, Starz OTT is the latest standalone SVOD service that, like Showtime OTT and HBO Now, enables users to access current and catalog content without a linear TV subscription.

The app on Xbox One features intuitive content discovery and navigation regardless how the consumer purchased a subscription to Starz. Subs to pay-TV channels Starz Encore and Movieplex can also use the app for streaming access.

Pay-TV subs (with the exception of Comcast/Xfinity) can download the app for free through Xbox Live and watch original series, including the upcoming season two premieres of “Blunt Talk” and “Ash vs Evil Dead” on Sunday, Oct. 2, as well as movies and first-run films.

The app can also be purchased through the App Store, Google Play or Roku. Other than a free Xbox Live membership, no other subscription service is required.
