27 Oct, 2017 By: John Latchem

In response to record subscriber growth for its SVOD service, CBS All Access Oct. 23 announced that “Star Trek: Discovery” has been renewed for a second season.

The latest entry in the “Star Trek” franchise and first TV show since 2005 reportedly pushed the service to a new record for subscriber sign-ups in a single week since the show’s Sept. 24 debut. Daily sub growth is up more than 200% year-over-year.

The first episode of the series aired on the CBS broadcast network and garnered 9.6 million viewers. The first season will be divided into two chapters, with the first part airing Nov. 12 and the remaining six episodes beginning in January, with new episodes available at CBS All Access after 8:30 p.m. on Sundays.
