SnagFilms Nabs 3 Film Fest Deals

22 Apr, 2009 By: Chris Tribbey

Ad-supported indie and documentary film site SnagFilms.com has inked deals with three film festivals to bring their content online.

The Los Angeles gay and lesbian film festival Outfest, the Canadian documentary film festival Hot Docs and the North Carolina Full Frame Documentary Film Festival will have their own channels and widgets on SnagFilms, and will have the option of including films from previous years.

“Film festivals and industry organizations have always played critical roles in selecting, nurturing and honoring filmmakers,” said SnagFilms CEO Rick Allen. “They often provide the first way for fans of indie films to see some of the genre’s most creative and important works.”

Sean Farnel, director of programming at Hot Docs, said, “SnagFilms provides a platform that we feel gives filmmakers an incredible opportunity to extend the impact and enthusiasm we consistently experience from festival audiences.”

In recent weeks, SnagFilms has extended its reach, announcing distribution deals with YouTube and Hulu.
