Sling TV Partners with Vudu, Offers Free Fox Movies14 Sep, 2016 By: Erik Gruenwedel
Online TV service adds SEC Network, ESPN 3
Sling TV Sept. 14 announced it is offering new subscribers who purchase select consumer electronics at Walmart.com two months of either Sling Orange ($20) or Sling Blue ($25) service, in addition to streaming access to 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment movies Taken (theatrical version), Cast Away, and Dr. Seuss’ Horton Hears A Who! on Vudu.com.
Consumer electronics include certain streaming devices, TVs, tablets, gaming consoles, laptops, desktop computers and cord-cutting bundles.
Separately, Sling TV now has access to SEC Network and ESPN 3. With the South Eastern Conference (SEC) often considered the No. 1 conference in college football — due in large part to the University of Alabama — Sling is making it available to Sling Orange subscribers as part of a supplemental “Sports Extra” package for $5.
Access to ESPN 3 follows Dish Network-owned Sling TV’s groundbreaking access in 2015 to ESPN and ESPN 2 — a first for Disney’s perennial premium sports channel.
“The new SEC Network channel is a digital channel for additional SEC Network live events, so you won’t miss any of the SEC games that air at the same time as games on the main SEC Network channel (also included in the Sling Orange Sports Extra). And if you’re a crazy college football fan like I am, the only thing greater than some SEC football games is more SEC football (Roll Tide!),” CMO Glenn Eisen wrote in a blog post.
