Actor Kevin Pollak makes his directorial debut with the Web series “Vamped Out,” which will be featured exclusively at Independent web and mobile video content platform Babelgum’s comedy channel. The first six episodes are live as of April 12 at www.babelgum.com/vampedout, with new episodes on Monday for five weeks afterward.
“Vamped Out” is a mockumentary about a vampire-turned-actor played by Jason Antoon, whose life is being documented by filmmaker Elliot Finke (Pollak). According to the backstory, Finke went missing during postproduction of his documentary. Other cast members include Samm Levine and Seana Kofoed. Cinematography is by Robert Legato, who won an Academy Award for visual effects for Titanic.
Pollak, who was named one of the Top 100 comedians of all time by Comedy Central, began his foray into Web programming last year with “Kevin Pollak's Chat Show,” a weekly online talk show with special guests.
“The ‘Chat Show’ has really made me aware of how incredible the Web community is to interact and support high-quality and funny content,” Pollak said. “With ‘Vamped Out,’ I wanted to create a series that would truly appeal to fans of comedy no matter what platform. We chose to collaborate with Babelgum because it was a perfect match in terms of smart comedy and allowed us to share our series with an incredible audience of comedy lovers.”
