Netflix Updates TV Viewing App22 Jul, 2015 By: Erik Gruenwedel
Netflix July 22 updated for the first time since 2013 the app for streaming video on a connected television.
Specifically, now when selecting a title, it will start or resume playing while displaying information about the movie or episodic show to help the subscriber to confirm their content selection.
The subscription streaming pioneer, which helped propel over-the-top video via enhanced user menus and content recommendations, two years ago incorporated a richer visual experience, descriptive synopsis as well as personalized information to provide more detail about why the sub should watch a specific title.
Today’s update expands upon those features.
“We’re letting the content speak for itself by providing a more immersive and cinematic experience that best represents the capabilities and expectations of today’s TVs,” Netflix wrote in a blog post.
Netflix’s stock continues to trade near its post-earnings (and post-split) high ($116.49) around $112 per share.
