Netflix Launches Localized Greek Service

12 Dec, 2017 By: Erik Gruenwedel

Despite global rollout almost two years ago, Netflix was not available in the Greek language — until now.

The SVOD pioneer Dec. 11 launched local-language service in Greece featuring content and licensed fare (70% dubbed in Greece) priced at €7.99 ($9.37) monthly. Content is also available in 4K Ultra HD.

“We always knew the Greek people had a big appetite for great entertainment,” Jonathan Friedland, chief communications officer at Netflix, said in a statement. “We’re delighted to offer a more localized Netflix experience in Greece that will continue to grow with great TV shows and movies from here as well as around the world.”

Netflix, which previously launched localized service in Romania, Poland and Turkey, last month partnered with Deutsche Telekom, giving the telecom’s subscribers direct-access to the SVOD giant.
