Men’s Basketball Final Broadcast Live Online

6 Apr, 2009 By: Erik Gruenwedel

Tonight’s final of the 2009 NCAA Div. I men’s basketball championship between Michigan State University and the University of North Carolina will be streamed live — only the second time ever that a major U.S. sporting event has been shown live in its entirety on the Internet.

CBSSports.com, a unit of CBS Sports, has made all 63 games of the annual March Madness tournament available (and in high-definition) via its branded NCAA March Madness on Demand (MMOD) video player.

Through March 29, CBSSports.com recorded nearly 7 million (6.92) unique visitors to the MMOD video player, a 56% growth from 4.43 million visitors in 2008.

Viewers consumed 8.04 million total hours of live streaming video, up 71% from 4.69 million hours in 2008.
