Fanhattan Offers New Set-Top Box

6 Jun, 2013 By: Chris Tribbey

San Mateo, Calif.-based online streaming company Fanhattan is debuting a new set-top box, dubbed Fan TV, which will offer live TV, cloud-based DVR functionality and online streaming.

“In order to create a truly amazing experience in the living room we needed to completely change the way people interact with entertainment — and this required molding the entire experience across both software and hardware,” Fanhattan CEO Gilles BianRosa wrote in a blog post.

The intent of Fan TV is to simplify the home living room experience, BianRosa, by putting most everything a consumer needs into one box, operated by a simple touch remote.

The Fan TV features a search option that lets the user know the different ways to view content and can connect with iPads and iPhones, allowing users to take their content on the go.

The company already offers an online-based content service as well as an iOS application.

The company is looking for pay-TV partners to hook up with to distribute the box.
Content and distribution partners and price have yet to be announced.
