28 Nov, 2017 By: Erik Gruenwedel

Epix Nov. 28 announced an agreement with Comcast Cable affording the cabler’s X1 subscribers in early 2018 access to the multichannel distribution platform owned by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. Epix will be available live and on demand through the Xfinity Stream app.

Epix original series include “Get Shorty,” “Berlin Station,” “Graves” and pending “The Truth About the Harry Quebert Affair,” starring Patrick Dempsey.

“Comcast’s Xfinity TV is one of the most innovative and powerful distribution platforms for entertainment content across the United States,” Gary Barber, CEO of MGM, said in a statement.

Launched in 2009 by MGM, Paramount and Lionsgate, Epix includes studio movies such as Arrival, Transformers: The Last Knight, The Magnificent Seven, Me Before You, Daddy’s Home and Fences, in addition to movie franchises "Star Trek," "Mission: Impossible," "Rocky" and James Bond.

“This agreement marks an incredible milestone for our company and provides Epix with a launch pad to deliver content to more consumers on every platform,” said Epix GM Monty Sarhan.

With Comcast, Epix will expand availability to 70 million homes across traditional and emerging distributors.
