Dove Channel Adds Osmond Family-Themed Christmas Special

11 Dec, 2017 By: Erik Gruenwedel

In a season filled with romance-themed Christmas movies, family-based over-the-top video service Dove Channel has secured streaming rights to “The Wonderama Christmas Special,” a 2016 made-for-TV movie featuring members of the renowned Osmond Family, including Donny and Marie.

The 60-minute special finds David Osmond traveling from New York to Utah to spend the holidays with family. After buying a Christmas tree, David arrives home to a house full of guests as they prepare for a huge holiday celebration with a full slate of talented guests.

Guests include David’s famous uncle and aunt, Donny and Marie; Sony Music artist Lexi Walker; Vy Higginsen’s Sing Gospel Choir; the One Voice Children’s Choir; and the Osmond Chapman Orchestra, among others.

“Cinedigm’s Dove Channel is the perfect distribution partner to help bring ‘The Wonderama Christmas Special’ to the masses,” Chuck Armstong of Wonderama Holdings LLC, said in a statement.

Wonderama Holdings, which includes artist management, live touring events, gaming, licensing and merchandising, earlier this year brought back a branded “Wonderama” TV show syndicated in 13 metro markets.

The original show aired from 1955 to 1977, and then was rebooted as the “Kids Are People Too” variety show from 1978 to 1982 Sunday mornings on ABC.

The program featured notable celebrities and music talent early in their careers, including KISS, Cheap Trick, Abbam Gladys Knight & the Pips, the Jackson 5, Debbie Harry, Pattie Smith, Brooke Shields, Jodie Foster, David Cassidy and Jerry Lewis, among others.
