Digimetrics Bows Streaming Support for Netflix1 Apr, 2013 By: Erik Gruenwedel
Digimetrics, which markets software enabling broadcast and streaming video services to deliver digitally clean files, April 1 launched Netflix support in Aurora, its automated content verification product, making it easier for content suppliers to deliver streaming programming to the subscription video-on-demand pioneer.
Aurora is a file-based quality control (QC) software platform generally sold to post-production houses, content distribution vendors (such as cable and IP aggregators) and broadcasters to check their file-based media prior to archive or distribution.
The software ensures digital content looks and sounds right, that the files themselves will play on whatever system they are going to be distributed on, and that the metadata content is valid for the workflow that the operator or end user will be using the content in.
“This is a big deal for Netflix because it allows them to have the content checked prior to it arriving and should ensure that more content is available on faster,” Eric Carson, business unit manager of Digimetrics, wrote in an email.
“Digimetrics’ Aurora plays a significant role in the digital supply chains of our content and services partners,” said Christopher Fetner, director of content partner operations at Netflix. “We’re excited to have collaborated with Digimetrics to create a profile in Aurora that ensures their users will have greater ease when delivering to Netflix.”
