Cinedigm's Dove Channel Available in Canada

7 Aug, 2017 By: Stephanie Prange

Cinedigm Corp. Aug. 7 announced the availability of its digital streaming service Dove Channel in Canada.

The channel offers both ad-supported and commercial-free subscription programming, and can be viewed initially on Android and Apple's iOS devices, with connected devices including Roku Players and Roku TV models, Amazon Fire, tvOS, and all major web browsers to follow, according to a Cinedigm press release.

Dove Channel, which launched in the United States on Sept. 15, 2015, caters to families seeking quality, safe, family-friendly content, according to the press release. All of Dove Channel's carefully curated content reflects the standards of The Dove Foundation and its Family Seal of Approval, according to the press release. At launch, all programs can be watched on demand, with the channel’s two live, auto-play streaming features, Dove Now and Dove Kids, available within the quarter.

"Canada is our first foray into launching digital networks outside the U.S. market, but certainly not the last, as we have plans to roll out channels in other territories, with parts of the Middle East, India and Asia in the coming months," said Erick Opeka, EVP of digital networks for Cinedigm, in a statement.

The Canadian launch follows several recently announced distribution deals, including Cinedigm’s channels being added to Amazon’s Fire and Google’s Chromecast platform, according to the press release. This launch is part of Cinedigm’s long-term strategic plan to significantly ramp-up the availability of its OTT services, and will soon be followed by Android TV, releasing in September 2017, the press release stated.

Dove Channel’s subscription-based offering is $4.99 per month, and viewers can subscribe within the app or on the website.
