Belkin Debuts TV Streaming Set-Top

22 Jun, 2012 By: Chris Tribbey

California-based consumer electronics company Belkin is introducing a new set-top box that streams and records live TV and plays it back in the home or on portable devices.

The device, @TV, debuts in July and will retail for $150. The device works with standard and high-def content and can connect to cable boxes, satellite receivers, and DVD and Blu-ray Disc players. The player works via Wi-Fi or a 3G or 4G network.

“Americans have long had a love affair with TV, and now they are increasingly demanding the ability to access their TV content wherever and whenever they want. It's no longer enough to record content to watch later,” said Jamie Elgie, senior director of product management at Belkin. “With @TV you aren’t limited to certain channels, and you have full access to both recorded content and live TV, so it's easy to watch the game in the backyard or your favorite movie at the dentist.”

Working with an @TV mobile application (free for tablets or $12.99 for smartphones) the device can relay content to Apple and Android mobile devices.
