E-commerce giant’s standalone SVOD service coming to Xbox One X

The Amazon Prime Video app is now available for Xbox One and is coming Nov. 7 to 4K-compatible console Xbox One X via the Microsoft Store.

Amazon made the subscription streaming video service available globally as a standalone service last December. Microsoft on Halloween made it available to more than 26 million Xbox One owners.

New Xbox One subs can sign-up for a Prime Video at PrimeVideo.com. Subs can also download all movies and TV shows for offline viewing on mobile devices. Existing Prime members can watch on Xbox One at no additional cost.

Expansion of Prime Video on Xbox comes as Amazon Studios is relocating operations from Santa Monica, Calif., to nearby Culver Studios in Culver City, where Gone With the Wind and Citizen Kane, among other classic movies, were filmed.

Amazon reportedly films original series “Bosch,” “Transparent” and “Goliath” at Culver Studios.

“We are very excited about being a part of 100 years of movie and TV history at the Culver Studios,” Albert Cheng, head of Amazon Studios, said in a statement.

Cheng took the top job after Roy Price resigned amid sexual harassment allegations. Joe Lewis, head of scripted series, and Conrad Riggs, head of unscripted series, followed Price’s departure.
