Sony Expects All PlayStation Services to Be Up This Week31 May, 2011 By: Chris Tribbey
After more than a month offline, all PlayStation Network and Qriocity services should be up and running by the end of this week, Sony Computer Entertainment said May 30.
Sony said services would be reinstated across the Americas, Europe and Asia, excluding Japan, Hong Kong and South Korea. Once the services are back online PlayStation 3 owners will be able to purchase and download games and video content for the first time since April 20.
“We have been conducting additional testing and further security verification of our commerce functions in order to bring the PlayStation Network completely back online so that our fans can again enjoy the first class entertainment experience they have come to love,” said Kazuo Hirai, executive deputy president of Sony Corp. “We appreciate the patience and support shown during this time.”
Sony is offering free content to customers as part of a welcome back program.
