Sony Network Entertainment International and Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) launched a new online store Jan. 24 in the United States, Canada, Mexico and Brazil, offering movies and TV shows for rent or purchase, as well as games and applications.
The online store, store.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com, lets users take their purchased content to the PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, Sony Android devices and PCs.
New-release films can be purchased in standard- or high-def for anywhere from $12.99 to $19.99, while TV shows generally rent for $1.99 an episode.
“Sony Entertainment Network will continue to update the PlayStation Store and online store with new features that improve usability and convenience for finding, purchasing and accessing content,” SCEA said in a press release.
SCEA aims to add an advanced recommendation functionality, automatic remote download of content, and mobile phone and tablet browsing to the online store.
The online store first went live in Europe in December 2012.
