Sony Debuts First Curved LED TV4 Sep, 2013 By: Chris Tribbey
Sony Electronics will debut the world’s first curved LED HDTV this October, retailing the unique display for $3,999.
Samsung Electronics was the first to offer a curved screen to consumers, debuting the 55-inch KN55S9C curved OLED TV for $8,999 in August.
Sony’s 65-inch KDL-65S990A curved LED TV is 3D-enabled, features eight front-facing speakers and allows for second-screen capabilities, via Sony’s TV SideView application.
“Sony has a storied history of innovation, particularly in the television category,” said Mike Lucas, SVP of Sony Electronics’ home entertainment and sound division. “The gentle curve of this television borrows from the screen technology found in movie theaters, and provides an immersive experience that makes viewers feel as if they are truly part of the action and in the moment of the scene they are watching.”
