Sony Electronics said its new portable Web-enabled media player, called the Dash, will include an app allowing Netflix subscribers to stream content.
Movies and TV episodes streamed instantly can be accessed through a queue-based user interface, in which choices will be displayed automatically when the Netflix icon on the device is touched.
Sony’s $200 Dash (available in April) wirelessly delivers real-time Internet access to any room of the home via 1,500 apps from Sony’s Bravia Internet Video platform.
“By adding content from Netflix, Sony is giving consumers a new, convenient way to enjoy some of the highest quality entertainment and most useful information available on the Internet today,” said Brennan Mullin, SVP of Sony Electronics’ personal imaging and audio business.
Sony also inked Dash access deals with Golflink and Livestrong.com, the latter featuring 2.1 million registered members seeking video content regarding health, lifestyle, sports and fitness.
