Sony Ups Caroline Dean

Caroline Dean, previously executive director for European publicity, promotions and media for Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, has been promoted to VP of European marketing, the studio announced Sept. 23.

In this new capacity, she will manage the strategic marketing initiatives for the distribution of feature films and television series via DVD, Blu-ray Disc and digital distribution, in addition to the related promotions and media.

Dean, who is based at SPHE’s European headquarters in London, will report to John McMahon, managing director of Europe, and to the SPHE worldwide marketing group, headed by Lexine Wong, senior EVP of worldwide marketing. She also will work closely with Fritz Friedman, SVP of worldwide publicity, as the primary point of contact for European publicity.

“Caroline is a talented and insightful marketer who has been instrumental to the strong performance of our European business,” McMahon said. “Her skills and experience will be critical for our group as we position and build our digital and physical businesses during this transformative period of our industry. I am delighted to be able to acknowledge Caroline’s contributions with this promotion.”

Added Wong, “During the past several years, Caroline has become an instrumental member of the international marketing team serving to help create and implement our strategic marketing plans for the European market. These added responsibilities reflect the trust we have in her business skills, and we are pleased to have her as part of our senior team.”

Prior to joining SPHE, Dean held numerous executive positions in London, with companies such as JCPR, Phipps PR and O2 Telecommunications. She earned a bachelor of science degree from the University of Birmingham and has a CIPR diploma in public relations.
