Sony Pictures Animation and Sony Pictures Home Entertainment have enlisted the help of little blue creatures to make the holiday season a memorable one for military personnel and their families.

By donating Christmas trees, ornaments and plenty of gifts, as well as hosting exclusive screenings of The Smurfs 2, Sony Pictures is celebrating U.S. troops this holiday season.

Dec. 6 marked the first holiday celebration at the Carey Theater on the Joint Base Lewis-McChord in the Seattle/Tacoma area. Smurfs staples Smurfette and Clumsy were there to donate 100 trees, ornaments and Smurfs 2 Blu-rays to families with winning raffle tickets, as well as pose for pictures.

“It's really cool when the Smurfs ‘walk the walk’ in supporting the troops and their families,” said Patrick McGhee, the base’s GM.

The Smurfs continue their merry-making Dec. 14 at the Palmer Theatre in Fort Hood, Texas, with Smurfette and Clumsy slated to make appearances.

The Smurfs 2 is currently available on 3D Blu-ray combo pack, BD combo pack and DVD. The combo packs include exclusive animated mini-movie The Legend of Smurfy Hollow and three featurettes, including “The Puurrfect Companion: Azreal’s Tail,” highlighting the creation of Gargamel’s sidekick.

The discs also include deleted scenes, and the “Animating Azreal” and “Daddy’s Little Girl: The Journey of Smurfette” featurettes.
