Yosemite

Scenic National Parks: Yosemite

September 07, 2008

The 1080p (1.33:1 aspect ratio) picture quality is flawless and makes you feel like you're there looking at El Capitan or Half Dome. And the 5.1 surround sound brings Yosemite Falls to life. For a documentary there's a nice blend of sounds to add life to the scenic imagery.

Lost Boys

Lost Boys: The Tribe (Blu-ray Review)

August 31, 2008

While the original 'The Lost Boys' has stood the test of time, Warner Premiere's straight-to-video sequel is more suited for a rental experience.

Postal

Postal (Blu-ray Review)

August 24, 2008

This marks the first of director Uwe Boll's film's to get the Blu-ray treatment, and the film looks good in high-definition.

Starship Troopers

Starship Troopers 3: Marauder (Blu-ray Review)

August 17, 2008

This low-budget movie's shortcomings are especially evident in the CGI department. The Blu-ray 1080p transfer looks too good.

Smart People

Smart People (Blu-ray Review)

August 10, 2008

Not much happens in this laborious film. The cast is great; the direction and pacing are the problem.

Mummy

Mummy, The (Blu-ray Review)

August 03, 2008

When it comes to presentation and sound, 'The Mummy' is excellent.

Mummy Returns

Mummy Returns, The (Blu-ray Review)

August 03, 2008

Audiophiles will fall in love with 'The Mummy' films, which offer the perfect blend of orchestral score, action and dialogue (even if said dialogue is often more cheesy than entertaining).

Scorpion King

Scorpion King, The (Blu-ray Review)

August 03, 2008

Film fans who've waited for the high-definition version of 'The Scorpion King' will get a slightly better BD experience at a good price.

Doomsday

Doomsday (Blu-ray Review)

July 27, 2008

The story borrows elements from such films as 'The Road Warrior,' '28 Days Later,' 'Resident Evil,' 'Escape From New York' and 'Lord of the Rings,' and in some ways works better than some of the films that inspired it.

Batman BD

Batman: The Movie (1966) (Blu-ray Review)

July 20, 2008

'Batman: The Movie' certainly holds up well today in terms of picture and extras, but the film is probably best enjoyed by those who grew up on it.
