Prime Video has 70% more domestic subs than Netflix

Amazon has 85 million Prime members in the United States, representing 63% of the e-commerce behemoth’s domestic consumers, according to data from Consumer Intelligence Research Partners. The tally is up 35% from a year ago.

Prime membership includes free two-day shipping, cloud-based storage (i.e. Amazon Instant Video) and access to Prime Video and Prime Music streaming platforms. Thus, Prime Video has 70% more domestic subs than Netflix.

Amazon does not publicly update or disclose Prime membership totals.

The research group said Prime members spend $1,300 annually on purchases, compared with $700 for non-members. About 28% of Prime members pay monthly instead of the $99 annual fee.

CIRP based its findings on a survey of 500 Amazon consumers making purchases from April to June.
