Sony Pictures Home Entertainment nabbed the three top spots on the national home video sales chart the week ended Feb. 1 with a trio of new releases.
The thriller Lakeview Terrace, which earned $39.3 million in theaters, debuted at No. 1 on the Nielsen VideoScan First Alert sales chart, followed by the direct-to-video sequel Open Season 2 at No. 2 and the $33.5 million-grossing drama Fireproof at No. 3.
Hulk vs., the latest direct-to-video animated feature from Lionsgate’s deal with Marvel, debuted at No. 4, while the Warner crime drama Pride and Glory bowed at No. 5.
The sixth spot on the sales chart went to 20th Century Fox’s Max Payne, which debuted at No. 1 the previous week, its first week out.
On Home Media Magazine’s video rental chart for the week, Lakeview Terrace bumped Max Payne from the top spot, although the video game-based actioner from Fox did hold on to the No. 2 spot with a slight 17% drop in rental activity from the previous week.
Pride and Glory was the week’s No. 3 renter, with 69% the rental action of Terrace. Fireproof debuted at No. 5, with Open Season 2 coming in at No. 19.
Universal Studios snagged the top spot on the Nielsen Blu-ray Disc sales chart with its elaborate new “Bourne Trilogy” boxed set, with the second spot going to Paramount’s Eagle Eye, moving up from No. 8 the previous week. The previous week’s top Blu-ray Disc seller, Max Payne, slipped to No. 6.
