Rentrak Names 'Argo' Top Digital Title of 201314 Feb, 2014 By: John Latchem
Retail tracking service Rentrak announced that Best Picture Oscar winner Argo was the top digital title of 2013, as measured by its Digital Download Essentials service.
Rentrak’s list of the top 10 digital movie purchases and rentals is based on consumer transaction rate. The report includes Internet video on demand and electronic sellthrough for both high-definition and standard-definition movie purchases and rentals.
Warner, which distributed Argo, claimed four of the top 10 spots, while Paramount took three. Overall, Warner ranked as the top studio for digital movie transactions in 2013. The list does not include titles from Universal Studios or independent distributors.
The top 10 movies, as measured between Jan. 6 and Dec. 29, 2013, are:
1. Argo, Warner
2. World War Z, Paramount
3. Star Trek Into Darkness, Paramount
4. We’re The Millers, Warner
5. The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, Warner
6. Now You See Me, Lionsgate
7. The Heat, Fox
8. Flight, Paramount
9. Man of Steel, Warner
10. Zero Dark Thirty, Sony Pictures
