Projections: Top Spot Should Go to the Undead

By : Kelly Burner | Posted: 08 Feb 2010

Several interesting theatrical hits came to DVD and Blu-ray Disc Feb. 2. Sony Pictures released the horror spoof Zombieland ($75.6 million), starring Woody Harrelson. Universal released the romantic comedy Love Happens ($23 million), starring Jennifer Aniston and Aaron Eckhart. Also out Feb. 2 was Fox’s historical drama Amelia ($14 million), starring Hilary Swank as legendary pilot Amelia Earhart.

The clear victor for the week is looking to be the Sony’s Zombieland. With three times the box office power of runner-up Love Happens, this title is sure to grab a triple victory as the top selling DVD, top selling Blu-ray Disc and top rented title of the week ending Feb. 7.

Love Happens should be able to grab the No. 2 spot on the national top seller and top rental charts, but it is unlikely this romantic comedy will debut higher than No. 4 on the Blu-ray Disc chart.
