Projections: Time Has Come for 'Looper'

7 Jan, 2013 By: John Latchem

With a light slate of new releases due to the lingering holidays, as well as continuing clearance sales, holdover titles should dominate, with the exception of the biggest new release, Sony Pictures’ Looper. The sci-fi actioner earned $66.5 million at the box office but is generating significant home entertainment buzz, which should help it top both the sales and rental charts for the week ending Jan. 6.

The top holdover is likely to be Warner’s Batman epic The Dark Knight Rises, which continues a strong run after a month on shelves.
