Projections: 'Thor' Trying to Overcome 'Gravity'

3 Mar, 2014 By: John Latchem

Two major new releases are contending for the top title for the week ending March 2, both major hits at the box office.

Marvel’s Thor: The Dark World, distributed by Disney, might be in the best position to take the top spot, after a $205.8 million haul at the domestic box office and huge retail support. Warner’s Gravity did better at the box office, with $269.4 million, and received enormous buzz from the Oscars.

With Gravity delayed to Redbox for 28 days, Thor: The Dark World should easily top the rental chart for the week.
