Projections: ‘Thor’ Set to Light Up Charts

19 Sep, 2011 By: John Latchem

Things should pick up at retail now that the superheroes are in town, with the disc debut of Thor ($181 million box office) and the first full week on shelves for X-Men: First Class ($146 million).

Without a kiosk embargo, Thor should dominate the rental chart as well.

Contributing to the mix will be the Blu-ray debut of the “Star Wars” films with a Friday release. It will be interesting to see the breakdown of how many people purchase the complete saga set as opposed to the smaller boxed sets for the original and prequel trilogies.
