Projections: ‘Shutter Island’ Should Lock Up Top Spot

14 Jun, 2010 By: Kelly Burner

Horror and action hit stores June 8. From Paramount came Martin Scorsese’s newest film, Shutter Island, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and earning nearly $130 million in domestic theaters. Also out was Lionsgate’s actioner From Paris With Love, starring John Travolta and raking in just over $24 million in theaters.

Of the two, Scorsese’s Shutter Island should make the biggest impact, landing first on the top sales and top rentals charts for the week ended June 13. From Paris With Love should perform respectably, landing at No. 4 on the top sellers and No. 3 on the top rentals chart for the week.

Also out June 8 was the seventh season of HBO’s “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” which featured a reunion of the “Seinfeld” cast. The title should perform well on the sales charts, debuting as high as No. 5.
