Projections: 'Robin Hood' to Take Crown

27 Sep, 2010 By: Kelly Burner

Only one major new theatrical title came to DVD and Blu-ray Disc Sept. 21. The Universal Studios adventure flick Robin Hood, starring Russell Crowe, raked in more than $105 million in domestic theaters. Robin Hood is anticipated to score a triple victory on the charts, becoming the top selling DVD and Blu-ray Disc and the top rental for the week ended Sept. 26.

Also out on disc was the direct-to-video movie Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue from Disney and a number of complete-season TV boxed sets, including Anchor Bay’s first season of “Spartacus: Blood and Sand,” Fox’s fifth season of “How I Met Your Mother” and the first season of “Modern Family,” and Disney’s second season of “Castle.” Each are primed to make a good showing in the sales market.
