Projections: 'Perfect Guy' Looks To End Reign of 'Minions'4 Jan, 2016 By: John Latchem
Sony Pictures' The Perfect Guy hopes to have enough momentum in its debut week to overcome strong holdover sales of Universal's Minions.
Perfect Guy is one of just a handful of notable new titles released at the usually slim end-of-year period, but it grossed a respectable $57 million in U.S. theaters and could take advantage of the paucity of new releases if interest in Minions falls off following the holiday season. Minions has topped the charts the past three weeks.
The only other major theatrical-to-disc release of the week was Fox's Hitman: Agent 47, though with just $22 million at the U.S. box office it's not likely to have much appeal beyond hardcore action fans.
Perfect Guy isn't making much of an impact on the rental chart yet, which looks to be topped by Paramount's Mission: Impossible — Rogue Nation for a third week.
