Projections: 'Oblivion' Hopes To Cruise to Top

12 Aug, 2013 By: John Latchem

The highest-profile new release for the week ending Aug. 11 is Universal’s sci-fi flick Oblivion, starring Tom Cruise. The film earned a modest $89 million at the U.S. box office and shouldn’t have much trouble topping the disc sales charts its first week in stores.

Paramount’s G.I. Joe: Retaliation also continues to have a significant retail presence and will remain among the top sellers for the week. With Oblivion delayed to Redbox kiosks, G.I. Joe should also stay atop the rental chart.

Universal’s Admission is the top holdover title coming off a rental embargo.
