Projections: 'Mummy,' 'Underpants' Seeking to Take Over Disc Sales Charts

18 Sep, 2017 By: John Latchem

Universal's The Mummy remake and DreamWorks Animation's Captain Underpants are the best bets to take over the disc sales charts the week ending Sept. 16.

Disney's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 has held onto the top spot for the previous three weeks.

The Mummy was a theatrical underperformer with $80.1 million in the United States, but is banking on the marketing clout associated with the launch of the Dark Universe, a shared continuity of classic Universal monsters.

Captain Underpants, distributed by Fox, earned $73.8 million at the domestic box office.

The weekly rental chart the week ending Sept. 17 should be relatively unchanged at the top, with Paramount's Baywatch looking to hold the top spot for a third week.
