Projections: 'Meatballs' Has a Chance on Charts3 Feb, 2014 By: John Latchem
The year’s early lull has given way to a swarm of new disc releases the past few weeks, with Jan. 28 led by Sony Pictures’ Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2, Paramount’s Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa and the fourth season of PBS’s popular “Downton Abbey.”
Cloudy 2’s $118.9 million at the domestic box office gives it the edge over Bad Grandpa ($102 million), but the “Jackass” comedy should top the rental chart, where family titles tend not to perform as well.
Holdover Captain Phillips, also from Sony Pictures, should continue to perform well.
