Projections: 'Magnificent Seven' Aiming to Stay Atop Disc Sales2 Jan, 2017 By: John Latchem
Sony Pictures' The Magnificent Seven must fend off some modest releases from the end of 2016 in order to remain No. 1 on the home video sales charts the week ending Jan. 1.
The highest-profile new title from Dec. 27 was Universal's Snowden, an Oliver Stone-directed film that made just $21.6 million in U.S. theaters.
Big holdover titles include Warner's Suicide Squad and Sully.
On the weekly rental chart, Sully and Warner's Storks are slated to take over the top spots after a delay of just one week to Redbox rental kiosks, much shorter than the typical 28-day embargo Warner imposes.
