Projections: 'Lego Movie' Disc Building to No. 1
23 Jun, 2014 By: John LatchemWarner's The Lego Movie should have no trouble topping the sales chart for the week ending June 22, and by a wide margin. The film grossed $256.5 million in U.S. theaters and arrives on home video with possibly the biggest disc release since Frozen.
Otherwise, the most notable new release for the week was Fox's The Grand Budapest Hotel, which grossed $58.2 million domestically. It will be in top 5 contention with holdover titles such as Paramount's Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit and Universal's Lone Survivor.
The rental chart should find Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit repeating in the top spot, since Lego Movie and Grand Budapest are from studios that hold back new releases from Redbox for 28 days.
