Projections: 'Jurassic World' Facing Strong Competition From 'Pixels'

2 Nov, 2015 By: John Latchem

Universal's Jurassic World is a good bet to hold onto the No. 1 position in disc sales for the week ending Nov. 1, with its biggest competition for the week likely to come from Sony Pictures' Pixels.

Jurassic World, which is the top film at the box office so far this year, had a huge disc debut, and fan interest should easily carry into another week since the title still dominated most retail displays.

Pixels, the latest Adam Sandler comedy to hit home video, underwhelmed at the domestic box office with just $78.6 million, but Sandler's films tend to overperform on home video.

On the weekly rental chart, Pixels is on track to debut at No. 2, with Fox's Spy coming off its 28-day holdback to move into the top spot. Anchor Bay's Southpaw is the likely No. 3 on both the sales and rental charts.
