Projections: 'Goosebumps' Hopes to Creep Up the Charts
1 Feb, 2016 By: John LatchemSony Pictures' Goosebumps will look to take advantage of a relatively slow week of new releases to take over the top spot on the home video charts the week ending Jan. 31.
To do so, the film, based on the R.L. Stine series of children's books, will have to supplant what should be a good second week for Universal's Straight Outta Compton. Goosebumps earned $79.9 million at the domestic box office.
Another title looking to debut high on the charts is PBS's Downton Abbey: Season 6, the final season of the popular period drama. The TV title will be jockeying for position with strong holdovers such as Fox's The Martian and Sony Pictures' Hotel Transylvania 2.
The rental chart will be led by Goosebumps, though Fox's Hitman: Agent 47 will jump into a high spot after coming off its 28-day holdback from Redbox kiosks.
